Even if Uhura hadn't delivered the line like she was in a Church Pageant, it sold way too much as "SEE? God is everywhere!" when with some subtle tweaking it might have made an interesting argument that Early Christianity's extreme pacifism is a natural/inevitable/repeating human response to Roman hyper-militarism.
